Windows connection is one-click approval.

No code to copy. The app creates a short-lived connection request, opens LocalCommander in your browser and waits for your approval.

After directory release

Plugin install becomes: Install → Connect account → Connect PC.

If your LocalCommander account has no PC online, the plugin can surface a direct “Connect a Windows PC” link. The same one-click Windows enrollment flow finishes the setup.

Download and run the Windows app

The installer starts the LocalCommander connector automatically on a fresh install.

Approve the computer once

LocalCommander opens your browser with the PC name. Click Connect this PC.

Wait for Online

The Windows app receives its device credential, stores it with Windows protection and starts the companion in the background.

Before the public plugin listing is available

For testing today, connect the production MCP endpoint from ChatGPT Developer Mode on the web. This is temporary; public users should not have to copy an endpoint.

Open ChatGPT on the web

Enable Developer Mode.

Create a personal/custom MCP app

Add the LocalCommander remote MCP endpoint.

Connect your LocalCommander account

OAuth links ChatGPT to the same account that owns your Windows PC.

Use LocalCommander in a new chat

If no PC is online, LocalCommander now returns a direct Connect Windows PC link instead of a dead-end error.

First test

List my paired Windows PCs and tell me which one is online.

Then try: “Open Notepad and type: LocalCommander is connected.”
